Iris Hines-Flamer - Educational Consultant
Following her childhood aspirations to guide children to discover their very best, Iris chose the path of teaching.  Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Iris recognized early in her youth, the different standards in educational opportunities for children; private school versus public, school funding and parental support in affluent communities versus schools in depressed and poor communities.  These were the concerns that inspired her to say her cause and develop a skill set that would one day seek equality, to meet the educational needs of all children.

Her ardent sprit to help the disenfranchised child was her primary and initial impetus to become an educator.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Temple University’s esteemed school of education located in Philadelphia.  She continued her graduate studies in elementary education earning a Master’s equivalency from Arcadia University and Cheyney University, both in Pennsylvania.

A highly celebrated and decorated educator, Iris looks proudly upon 20 plus years in her labor of love…namely, to guide and love and promote education and advancement of children.  She has dedicated her professional life to child advancement and advocacy.  She has worked in both private and public sectors in different states and geographical regions in USA and has taught grades pre-k through fifth grade.  The lion’s share of her educator expertise was in her home city of Philadelphia where she engineered magnificent work in the classroom and communities.

Iris and her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2001.  She has taught in both the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and Charlotte Country Day School.  Her success in the Charlotte footprint inspired a cover story in the October 2007 edition of Charlotte Post, charting differences in choice between private and public schools.

Today, Iris and Education Consultant Barbara Barnett direct exemplary modules of tutorial services through their LEARN Strategy company.  Iris and husband Ken have a daughter Lauren who is a recent graduate from Wellesley College in Boston, Mass.  They have a son Julian, who is a junior attending Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
